This is a retained search for a vertically integrated private fund manager focused on real estate private equity. With a strong track record and a newly raised ~$700 million opportunistic fund, the firm is embarking on an ambitious growth trajectory. Current AuM is less than USD $5B. They leverage deep real estate expertise and operational capabilities. As they continue to expand the investment scope, they're establishing a dedicated strategy to capitalize on niche special situations within the credit markets to compliment their historical repositioning and turnaround strategy, on top of a newly created preferred equity strategy within multifamily.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly experienced and entrepreneurial Senior Investment Professional to lead and build our new Special Situations Credit strategy. This is a unique opportunity to be a foundational member of a growing platform, playing a pivotal role in defining the investment thesis, sourcing and executing transactions, and driving significant value creation. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in distressed credit investing and a strong understanding of complex financial structures and market dynamics. This role offers significant autonomy and the chance to shape a critical new pillar of the firm's investment activities.
Responsibilities:
- Strategy Development: Lead the development and evolution of a differentiated investment thesis focused on niche special situations within the credit markets, aligning with the firm's broader real estate expertise and opportunistic mandate.
- Sourcing and Origination: Proactively identify, cultivate, and manage a robust pipeline of investment opportunities through a deep network of relationships, market research, and proactive outreach.
- Due Diligence and Analysis: Conduct rigorous financial, legal, and operational due diligence on potential investments, including detailed credit analysis, valuation, and risk assessment.
- Structuring and Execution: Lead the structuring, negotiation, and execution of complex credit investments, ensuring optimal terms and alignment with the firm's investment objectives.
- Portfolio Management: Actively monitor and manage portfolio investments, including covenant compliance, performance analysis, and the development and execution of value enhancement strategies.
- Thought Leadership: Serve as a thought leader internally and externally on special situations credit investing, contributing to market insights and enhancing the firm's reputation.
- Team Building (Future): As the strategy grows, build and mentor a high-performing investment team.
- Reporting and Communication: Prepare and present investment recommendations, portfolio updates, and market insights to senior management and investors.
