The
Communications Specialist is part of a cross-functional corporate communications team that supports efforts tied to corporate reputation, issues management and business intelligence, to protect and promote The Walt Disney Studios and its brands. In this position, you will play a critical role in developing day-to-day written materials, reports, media tracking and analysis for the studio.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and implement strategic communication plans to increase brand awareness and promote the company's values and initiatives
- Draft written materials, including press releases, media pitches, executive bios, fact sheets, etc.
- Create compelling and engaging content, including executive scripts and social media copy for various communication platforms
- Monitor and analyze media coverage, including weekend box office reports, and provide regular reports to leadership on the company's reputation, news and industry trends
- Support crisis communication strategies and provide timely and effective responses to any potential issues or controversies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and consistency in messaging and branding across all brands and channels, and to identify and capitalize on opportunities for cross-promotion
- Maintain event and editorial calendars, awards/lists submissions, the segment website, archival information and weekly reports
- Stay up to date on industry trends and best practices to constantly improve and innovate communication efforts
- Continuously evaluate and improve communication processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years’ professional experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field
- A portfolio of communications projects that demonstrates mastery of both technical and creative writing, and the ability to adapt tone/style to a variety of audiences
- Excellent writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills working with colleagues across departments at all levels
- Ability to take direction from multiple stakeholders, balance numerous projects simultaneously, prioritize deadlines, and effectively work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work independently but confident enough to ask for guidance and input when needed
- Handle confidential information with utmost discretion
- Relentless attention to detail and exceptional proofing skills
- Demonstrated ability to research and synthesize complex information and present in a clear, concise, and readable manner
- A high degree of strategic thinking, professionalism and commitment
Preferred Qualifications:
- PR/media relations experience (agency or in-house) or deep interest in the media landscape
- Familiarity with Boolean search and media monitoring tools
- Previous experience in the entertainment industry
Education:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field OR equivalent experience

The hiring range for this position in California is $76,300 to $95,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
