Overview: In this role, the person will be primarily responsible for handling Commercial Auto Claims, including property damage, property damage liability, rental management, and/or other applicable coverages.
Locations: We are seeking candidates in Phoenix, AZ or O' Fallon, MO
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze first reports and promptly contact insured/claimants within hours.
- Effectively evaluate contract language and identify coverage issues.
- Promptly and appropriately create an action plan for an accurate and timely investigation and loss analysis.
- Maintain an active file diary to move file toward timely resolution.
- Establish accurate and timely reserves within required timeframes.
- Recognize and refer appropriate files for recovery.
- Adhere to all internal, statutory, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Recognize and identify potential fraudulent claims.
- Effectively manage the use, work product and expenses of outside vendors.
- Effectively evaluate claim facts and negotiate claim settlements.
- Develop and maintain strong business relationships with internal and external customers.
- Serve as a resource to lesser experienced Examiners.
- Supports workload surges and/or Catastrophe Operations as needed to include working overtime, nights, and/or weekends during designated CATs.
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Full knowledge of commercial insurance contracts, investigation techniques, legal requirements and insurance regulations.
- Ability to work effectively in-person and remotely
- Display an inquisitive and curious mindset for investigating, evaluating, analyzing, and interpreting information.
- Ability to analyze and prioritize multiple competing priorities, including claim receipt, telephone calls, email, mail, text messages, and/or other sources of information

Proficient in drafting comprehensive reports and correspondence that comply with legal and company standards, ensuring clear communication with clients, colleagues, and vendors.
- Skilled in Negotiation and Reserving Processes: Demonstrated proficiency in negotiating settlements that are fair and equitable for all parties involved. Strong understanding of reserve setting and management to ensure appropriate claim funding throughout the process.
- Innovative Thinking and Problem-Solving Capabilities: Ability to think creatively when faced with challenges, developing effective strategies to resolve issues and optimize claims processes. Comfortable making independent decisions in high-pressure situations, while also recognizing when to seek guidance from senior team members.
- Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to reviewing contracts, claim details, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with industry standards. Strong ability to identify potential discrepancies or coverage gaps that may impact the claims process.
- Adaptability and Stress Management: Capable of maintaining effectiveness in rapidly changing environments, particularly during workload surges or crisis situations. Ability to remain calm and make informed decisions under pressure, contributing to efficient operations during catastrophic events.
- Team Collaboration and Leadership: Proven ability to work effectively within a team, fostering a collaborative environment. For senior candidates, the ability to provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior adjusters, enhancing the overall skill set of the team.
- Technological Proficiency: Familiarity with claims management software and other relevant technology tools that aid in the claims investigation and resolution process. Willingness to learn new systems and leverage technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Experience & Education Requirements
- 4+ years of Commercial Auto Claims Adjusting experience required.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required.
Licensure Requirement: If you do not already have one, you will be required to obtain an applicable resident or designated home state adjusters license and possibly additional state licensure.
