Job Title: Human Resources Assistant-MUST live in California
Reports to: Director of Human Resources
Status: Non-Exempt, Part Time
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Assistant supports HR functions assisting with clerical and administrative tasks, such as managing employee records, onboarding, posting ads, and training coordination, while also providing complete administrative support to the Director of Human Resources. The Human Resources Assistant will help support effective and efficient operations of the organization's human resource department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to Director of Human Resources.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department.
- May assist with payroll functions including timesheet errors, processing, answering employee questions, and fixing processing errors.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors for basic tasks, which may include health, disability, and retirement plan providers. Differs to Director of HR for more complex issues.
- Assists with new hire orientation and exit interviews and writes internal memos of exit interviews.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, employee recognition events such as Spotlight Anniversary, Birthdays, and holiday celebrations.
- Posts and pauses job ads
- Prepare requested reports for CEO, auditors, leadership within organization
- Maintains training spreadsheet, file, and documentation records
- Assist in payroll preparation and backup payroll processing
- Assists with timesheet changes, errors, missed punches, and meal premium questions.
- Responds to task related emails from employees
- Assists with onboarding and offboarding checklists and filing, as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience in office environment in relevant Human Resources/administrative position
- Attendance, dependability, and punctuality is a must
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent communication skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management system, human resource information system (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently in college courses related to Human Resources, or associate degree in related field required and/or experience in Human Resources preferred
- Willing to complete courses in Human Resource laws, and any HR related courses to enhance knowledge and skills.
· Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Prior related office experience preferred.
Physical, Environmental and Mental Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Frequently required to perform moderately difficult manipulative tasks such as typing, writing, filing, etc.
· Sensory: Frequently required to read documents, written reports, and plans.
Salary: $24.00-$26.00 Non-Exempt

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 24 per week
