About The Role
TransAlta is currently looking to fill seven (7)
Laborer positions within our Mine Reclamation team in
Centralia, Washington. Under the supervision of the Mine Supervisor, you will be responsible for assisting operations with general labor activities.
Other Position Details
- Governed by the Collective Agreement between TransAlta and the IUOE (Local 612-B)
- Follows a Monday to Thursday, 10 hr work schedule (subject to change based on business needs)
- Hourly rate of $33.33 with eligibility for overtime, as required
- Safety-sensitive position therefore successful completion of pre-employment testing is a condition of employment
What You Will Do
Perform general duties as follows, but not limited to:
- Perform general clean-up duties around the mine, vegetation control, wash equipment, and site clean-up
- Operate material handling equipment, pickup/deliver trucks, and remove debris and unused material from the work area
- Provide shop and warehouse support
- Assist operations and maintenance persons in performing tasks when required, and perform laboring and other tasks as required
- Troubleshoot and problem-solve situations/problems as they arise
- Ensure MSHA, safety and environmental regulation compliance, and maintain work area to company standards
What We Need From You
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an industrial work setting
- Ability to understand and follow mine safety and mine production policies and procedures
- Ability to work in inclement weather and in environments that are noisy, dusty, and dirty
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operations a plus (Grader, dozer, backhoe and truck)
- Able to work shift work
- Able to constantly use good eye/hand/foot coordination
- Ability to utilize portable and powered forklifts, trucks, power washers, etc., and various hand tools (manual and mechanical)
- Perform daily accountabilities that require physical strength and stamina
Nice to Haves
- Prior experience with mining and/or reclamation work is preferred
- Experience operating heavy equipment is an asset
