We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Real Estate Acquisitions and Capital Markets Intern to join our team. This internship will provide hands-on experience in the real estate industry, with exposure to both the Acquisitions and Capital Markets sectors. You will work closely with team members on key projects related to underwriting, financial modeling, market research, and financing strategies. A list of proposed projects is listed below.
Acquisitions
- Operating Expense Database - Assist in collection, compilation and analysis of operating expenses from assets in each of our markets.
- Complete initial scorecard for potential Acquisitions and Development opportunities.
- Help build a new Acquisitions scorecard (Dependent on modeling ability)
- Compile a list of potential Acquisitions and Development properties to engage market bird dogs. Ideally, the intern should use tools like Google Earth, knowledge of local markets, and Archer strategy tools to identify potential Land assemblages, redevelopment, or existing asset opportunities.
Capital Markets
- Assist in developing an investor database from information aggregated to assist in capital raising efforts.
- Assist in linking dynamic underwriting model(s) to larger investment packages to minimize human error and streamline the capital raising process.
Asset Management
- Assisted in basic tasks related to Asset Management, such as communicating with vendors requesting data from property management companies and performing other administrative tasks.
General Projects
- Assist in creating a template for dynamic capital markets/acquisitions documents. Ex. Investment Memos (CIM, PIM, etc.) Teams would like a template that can automatically pull underlying data from supporting word/excel documents.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing(or recently received) a Bachelors degree in Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field. Junior year or above.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to develop financial models
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other MS Office applications (experience with real estate financial software is a plus)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A proactive and eager-to-learn attitude
- Previous internship or coursework in real estate or finance is a plus
