The Director of Real Estate and Acquisitions works with internal stakeholders, developers, and consultants on new property acquisition, negotiating and managing leases, and managing relationships with landlords.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required
- Corporate real estate education and certification (MCR or SLCR) preferred
- 5+ years’ experience in real estate acquisition and lease management.
- Broad experience in a variety of corporate real estate functions, including asset management, lease administration, property management, acquisitions/dispositions, and tenant improvement project management
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Proven corporate real estate knowledge and expertise, including real estate analytics, and ability to consistently apply sound real estate due diligence and negotiating skills
- Accuracy, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple simultaneous projects, tasks, and requests within tight and fixed deadlines
- Must be able to work independently, estimate time required to complete projects, follow up on assignments, and keep appropriate team members up to date and aware of progress, and to have judgment to know when to seek direction or support
- Strong communication, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex concepts and deal points in a simple and straightforward way
- Commitment to customer service and relationship management skills to efficiently respond to inquiries and resolve any conflicts or problems that might arise
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to influence outcomes and build consensus
- Demonstrated ability to be a contributing member of an organizational team
- Functional in standard office applications/systems (word processing, spreadsheets, internet, etc.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with internal stakeholders and developers/brokers to identify, evaluate, and acquire properties for schools.
- Manage an accurate file of all Certificates of Insurance (COI) for consultants and provide Landlords with COIs as stipulated in each lease.
- At project turnover, determine and communicate to the Operations and Facilities team’s ongoing requirements for compliance with all city, state, and federal licensing, permitting, testing, and inspections.
- Support and contribute to key team activities, including reporting, analytics, and performance metrics.
