Overview
Seeking a reliable and hardworking General Laborer to join our team at the Sullivan Arena. This position is responsible for supporting the daily operations and maintenance of our ice rink and sports facilities. The ideal candidate will be a team player, able to perform a variety of tasks to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment for our staff, guests, and athletes.
Key Responsibilities
Post-Event Cleanup:
(Foundation of each employee’s schedule – agreed upon at hire).
- Pick up trash (partial drinks, beer cans, food trays, straws, swizzle sticks, limes, etc.).
- Sweep lower bowl first, then balcony.
- Prepare area for mopping.
Mezzanine Level Bathrooms & Corridors
- Empty all trash cans in corridors and restrooms.
- Remove bagged rubbish from outside concessions.
- Prepare floors for mopping or use of floor scrubber.
Note: Vendors are responsible for bagging and tying off their own trash. Employees will transport these bags to the compactor but will not enter or clean vendor spaces.
Additional Duties
- Conversion Work: (Event floor setup/tear-down)
- Assist with transforming the ice rink into event-ready flooring (e.g., flat show, cage fight, etc.)
- Snow Removal & Sidewalk Maintenance: (Winter months) General Cleaning
- Clean bleacher seats, rink glass, storage areas, etc.
- Lawn Maintenance: (Summer months)
- Rink Attendant Duties: (During evening ice rentals)
- Clear trash and cans from locker rooms (Rooms 3-6, Press Room, etc.)
- Assist with Maintenance:
- Support general maintenance tasks as needed
- Assist with Ice Building & Painting:
- Assist Operations Tech II (Training for advancement to Tech II)
Qualifications
- Previous experience in general labor, maintenance, or facility support is a plus but not required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
This is an hourly position; starting rate will be based on experience.
