If you’re crushing your sales goals despite the market slowdown . . .
. . . this message isn’t for you.
The person I’m talking to today is pretty stressed right now. Possibly on the verge of actual panic.
Their sales production is down. Maybe it’s been months since they closed a deal and don’t know where the next one will come from.
Their buyers and sellers have tapped out of the market. Everyone’s ‘gonna wait and see’.
They’re looking at the market and thinking, “Should I quit this gig and go get a *job*?”
And I get it. I understand why hundreds of agents are ditching their real estate practices in favor of 9-to-5 gigs that at least *feel* more secure than selling homes does at the moment.
But I need you to hear me loud and clear on this: Before you GIVE UP on real estate, we need to talk.
A few years ago, we decided to build a team based on providing life-changing opportunities for a handful of people. We created a ton of high-quality inbound leads, a phone that rings off the hook with people wanting to buy and sell homes, and a team culture where everyone has a good time and doesn’t have to compete for scraps.
Little did I know at the time that I was actually building a lifeboat.
It’s not that our business is somehow immune from a changing market -- but we’ve built so much momentum over the past few years that our agents are still closing deals each month. They’re still making money and aren’t scared by what’s going on out there.
So if you’re telling yourself a story that you’ve failed at this real estate thing and that all signs indicate that you should jump out of the business, DON’T GIVE UP. Not without talking to us first.
We’re looking at this as an opportunity. As agents leave the business, their clients have to go somewhere. We’re increasing our market share each day as we take care of clients who have lost their agents to the tough market.
And btw -- we’re an open book here. If we see the path for you to pull out of this situation without going broke, etc., we’ll tell you as much. If we think it’s too late, we’ll shoot you straight about that too.
Here’s the type of person who I can still make successful in 2025:
You are a talented salesperson with the ability to talk to a wall.
You’ve been complimented on your ability to influence people. You LIKE to sell.
But you’re not *just* a closer. No, no -- you actually care a great deal about seeing your clients get the results they want.
You enjoy the thrill of seeing two or three deals close in one week. (Happens all the time around our office.)
And you like getting hugs at closing as much as you like the commission checks.
Does this sound like you so far?
Here’s what else I know about you -- *if* you’re the person I’m looking for:
You have a sense of urgency; sometimes you get accused of being a tiny bit impatient. (So do I.)
Paperwork might not be your favorite thing to do. (Same here. It’s OK. We have plenty of help with that.)
You’d rather work with buyers because you LOVE turning nervous renters into proud homeowners. (Yep!)
And you’re known for being a little competitive. Nothing motivates you like someone saying you *can’t* do something. (Guilty as charged.)
If this describes you, then we’re a lot alike.
I’m Ryan Dobbs. If you’re in Bakersfield, you’ve heard our radio commercials, seen the TV spots, the billboards, our ads online, etc.
Real estate has always been our family business. We're rooted here and couldn't be happier serving our community.
But we’re missing a piece.
See, all those radio/billboard/online ads produce a LOT of inbound leads. Our existing team of buyer agents are doing their best to keep up with all of these folks who are asking for more info about buying homes, about getting prequalified for loans, etc. . . but they're running out of space on their calendars.
Their jobs entail talking to inbound buyer leads on the phone, going from one excited buyer appointment to another and helping homeowners find exactly the right home. Then they get to negotiate home-run terms for their buyers and guide each deal in for a successful landing.
And then comes that moment we all love -- when we place the keys in our buyers' hands. Honestly -- is there anything more rewarding?
They get to be the ‘superheroes’ of Bakersfield real estate, making one buyer happy after another.
That’s not to mention some of their other perks, or the fact that we’d never in a million years ask them to make cold calls to bug random people from the phone book . . .
Oh and not to mention the transaction coordination help they get for handling much of the necessary docusigns and paperwork, etc.
Or the website/CRM/back-end systems and support . . . Or the opportunities for growth, leadership positions that come up -- for those who want more one day.
I tried but I can’t fit it all here. And let’s be clear about something -- I don’t want your money. If you like the idea of paying upfront fees, monthly fees and endless ‘gotcha’ charges on your paycheck -- well, that describes about every other shop in town so if that's what you want, knock yourself out.
I bring the leads, the know-how and the wallet. You bring the hustle.
But here’s the thing: If I don’t get some talented salespeople to help close these buyer leads starting the first week of January, I’m going to have to dial back my ads.
Unless . . .
If this sounds like you, we should get to know each other. Here are a few of the requirements I’m looking for: If you have questions about them, just reply to the post and we’ll get you answers.
THE REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess an ACTIVE California Real Estate License
- Must want to work a LOT in the beginning -- no "one foot in" type folks allowed.
- Positive attitude
- Sales experience
- Coachability. If you want to do it your old way and don't want to be led, it's not a match.
And here’s my promise to you. If I don’t think the opportunity is a match for your gifts, we’ll shoot you straight. If I know a broker with an opportunity that’s more of a home run for you, I’ll call them right there and introduce you. (Ask around, I’ve done it before.)
So there it is. The ball is in your court now. Let’s talk.
