Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in one of the following areas:
- Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education
- Nursing including at least twelve graduate or undergraduate hours in any combination of family centered practices or child and youth development
- Child Development
- Sociology or Psychology including at least twelve graduate or undergraduate hours in any area of family centered practices or child and youth development
- Social Work including at least twelve graduate or undergraduate hours in any combination of family centered practices or child and youth development
- Experience working with pregnant women, children ages birth to five, and families in rural areas
- Home visiting experience
- Experience leading parent groups
- Demonstrated early childhood knowledge, including infant/toddler knowledge
- Energetic, motivated and creative
- Ability to work independently and with a flexible schedule
- Available and reliable vehicle for visiting families (mileage reimbursed)
- Competency with computers including previous experience with Mac programming and use of the Internet
- Willingness to travel regionally and nationally for training
- Willingness to collect data and participate in the program evaluation
Essential Functions
- Recruit 15 families and children ages birth to five into the program
- Develop and schedule the program activities, including home visiting, parent/child groups, transition to school activities, and other programmatic activities
- Provide regular home visits to families (at least 1 hour in length 3 times/month) using an approved home visiting curriculum
- Organize and conduct regular (minimum of one per month) parent/child groups, in the community when possible and feasible
- Conduct child screenings and make referrals to community providers for follow up assessment as needed
- Coordinate with program partners, local schools and other community agencies
- Participate in training and technical assistance activities
- Receive training and be able to implement Teaching Strategies GOLD assessments on all children
- Fulfill all grant requirements as established by the Sixpence Endowment
Work Schedule:
The Sixpence Home Visitor position is a full time position, funded for seven hours per day and 215 days per year. It is a full year position. Time sheets must be kept by clocking in and out.
