You'll support in various stages of aluminum production, including material handling, machinery operation, and quality assurance. Responsibilities
- Learn, live and promote Century Aluminum's Safety Mission Statement, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment
- Handle and transport raw materials, ensuring efficient and safe material handling
- Operate and monitor mobile equipment, tools and machinery involved in the aluminum refining process, adhering to safety guidelines and operational procedures
- Working sequentially to participate in aluminum refining stages such as smelting, purification, and casting, maintaining operational standards
- Regularly conduct quality checks on aluminum products to ensure compliance with specifications and report deviations
- Review and analyze data to ensure quality, and initiate appropriate action as required
- Collaborate with and support fellow team members to establish priorities, achieve production targets and contribute to a positive team environment
- Maintain departmental and plant-wide housekeeping standards related to the aluminum smelting process
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED Equivalent or ability to pass Reading and Math Assessment administered by Century Aluminum
- 1 year experience in Heavy Labor, Manufacturing, or Industrial Environment, or equivalent Military experience
- Willingness to perform repetitive tasks in a manufacturing setting
- Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment with exposure to extreme temperatures
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks that require standing, walking, crouching, climbing, lifting and balancing for extended periods of time
- Must be able to manually lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to work on a rotational shift schedule that may include 12-hour day and night shifts
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
- Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check
- Experience operating mobile equipment preferred
- Ability to wear issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including a respirator, hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, industrial boots, and Flame-Resistant clothing
- Must have strong attention to safety, and the ability to remain focused and detail-oriented in an environment with occupational hazards
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Preferred candidates have a history of reliable employment, with a minimum of 1-year at previous employers
